CUTCOMBE recorded their sixth win of the season in Division Three of the West Somerset Cricket League when they beat Fitzhead by 147 runs at Wheddon Cross on Saturday afternoon.
After being asked to bat Cutcombe lost two early wickets both to Ryan Mullins before Ben Pursey walked to the wicket to join opener Mark Matravers.
The opener made 91, falling just short of what would have been his first league century of the season, while Pursey continued with his run of good form with the bat and hit a league best of 63, after which nobody else in the Cutcombe side reached double figures as they ended their innings on 223 for nine.
When Fitzhead replied Ben Pursey struck early to remove opener Garry Alford after which two further wickets followed.
It was not until skipper Dave Burton joined opener Mike Morrish that the runs started to come . However, when both were dismissed, Morrish by James Gregory and Burton by Ben Pursey, there was little further resistance and Fitzhead were eventually all out for 76 in 29.5 overs.
Ben Pursey ended the pick of the bowlers with three for nine, while Gregory claimed two for 24 from nine and Harry Lacey had two for 10 from six.
