PROMOTED AFC Dunster went down 4-2 at home to Wyvern Wanderers in Division One of the Somerset Sunday Football League.
Dunster made seven changes following the cup defeat to Northwalls as Sam Harley made his debut, while Oscar Binnie, Lowell Binnie, Matthew Ronan, Josh Elston, Josh Bruford and Charlie Disney all returned to the starting eleven.
The hosts took the lead as Bruford’s tenacious run down the right produced a low cross into the box that wasn’t cleared which allowed Thompson to place his composed effort past keeper Gibbs. Dunster competed throughout but an equaliser came not long after a fierce shot was proved too hot to handle by keeper Binnie.
The visitors, although not dominating proved clinical and they regained the lead to go 2-1 up before the break.
Dunster midfielder Matthew Ronan was clipped in the box and won his team a spot kick. Thompson dispatched the penalty and the two teams were level once more.
Dunster’s performance was a massive improvement but Wyvern regained the lead and then went 4-2 up and ultimately secured all three points.
However there were plenty of positives for The Greens to take going forward as they face Flying North in Taunton on Sunday. Dunster’s Man of the Match: Cameron Thompson
