FORMER Minehead goalkeeper Vinny Jones is set to make his debut for Watchet Town in the Ulsport Somerset County Football League premier game away to Ilminster Town on Saturday, August 24.
Jones has not played since cracking ribs in a pre-season friendly. Also likely to come back into the Watchet squad is midfielder Harry Scatchard, who was the Seasiders’ man of the match in their opening game of the season. However, skipper Eben Harding will be missing.
Watchet lost 2-0 at Yatton last Saturday and Nick Sully, on the club’s three-man management committee, commented: “We missed some good chances in the first half which would have made a difference.
“There will be changes for the game at Ilminster - there always is at this time of the season. We lose a few and we get a few back.”
Ilminster have made a bright start to the season, winning three of their four league games.
Meanwhile Minehead, who beat Glastonbury 2-0 at home last weekend, have no match on Saturday - in fact they are without a home game until November. They are hoping they will get a home tie in the Somerset Senior Cup when it is drawn.
Minehead’s next game in the league is on Saturday, August 31 - away to Imperial.
