FORMER Somerset skipper Tom Abell has extended his contract with the county, meaning he will remain with his home club at least until the end of the 2026 season.

The local born and raised top order batter and more than useful bowler previously had a contract that expired at the end of this summer.

Abell said: “Obviously, I’m delighted to be extending my stay with the club. There’s been a bit of a change in the last month or so, but I can now just focus on playing and getting the best out of myself for Somerset.”

He added: “Playing for Somerset means a lot to me, and I know that it means a lot to my family and friends. We experienced success last summer and we are all looking to build on that over the next few years. Hopefully, I can play my part in that.”

The 29 year old is currently out in South Africa taking part in the SA20 League tournament.
