MINEHEAD Cycling Club and the wider cycling community turned out last Sunday to support club member Scott Huish. More than 100 were at the start, then split into various groups to ride different routes to the Moorland Hall at Wheddon Cross.

Organiser David Bray said: “What a fantastic turnout for the first "Ride for Scott". We raised £1,525 which will be added to the Just Giving Crowdfunding account which will help Scott and his family."

Club member Chris Mitchell added: “As part of Minehead Cycling Club’s legendary Porlock Hill Climb on 15th September, there will be a special event after the final rider has set off.

“The Toll Road to the toll booth and back will remain closed for this mass participation event. An all comers ride, run, walk, roll event where you can go up the toll road at your own speed. The event is to support Scott, details of what the club hope to achieve will be in the HQ in Porlock Village Hall.

The event is free to take part in but feel free to make a donation. Assemble at the start from 12.00 onwards. Although it is not a race there will be medals for the first to the toll booth in each category.
