DULVERTON Town gained a 3-0 home win over Bridgwater Wolves Colts in Division Two of the West Country Drainage Services Taunton Saturday Football League.

Before the game kicked off Dulverton Town paid tribute to ex-player Richard Hayes who passed away earlier in the week at the age of 38.

Playing to their usual 4-3-3 formation Dulverton dominated most of the first half, during which Giles Brock had three great chances from the left wing but unfortunately couldn’t convert.

When Town did put the ball in the back of the net the referees assistant decided to put his flag up much to the amazement of some of the home supporters.

The home side were awarded a penalty shortly after but James Kelland failed to convert , However he didn’t make the same mistake at the end of the half when he scored from another penalty to put Dulverton into a 1-0 lead at the interval.

The hosts had a strong squad of 16 players and fresh legs were introduced at the break and it was substitute Ellis Thomas who put Dulverton 2-0 up with a near finish from a tight angle midway through the half.

The visitors continued to try to break when they could but Town’s defence was solid throughout with Bobby Burke having a great game at right back. Veteran ‘keeper Carl Hooper also pulled off some smart saves to keep his clean sheet for the day.

Town controlled the game and with the last kick of the game, skipper Dave Kelland scored a stunning free kick to put the game to bed and was also awarded Man of the Match after the game.

This result sees Dulverton Town move uo to sixth place in the table. On Saturday, January 25, Dulverton are away to Minehead Colts in a local West Somerset derby.
