WATCHET Ladies travelled to face Staplegrove at the weekend, looking to improve on the defeat they suffered two weeks ago.
The visitors battled well in the opening minutes of the game with a solid defensive effort from defenders Evie-mae Lovell, Frankie Baro, Jodi Edmond and Abbie Louise, and brilliant keeper Gemma Louise to keep Staplegrove at bay.
Staplegrove took the lead on 21 minutes, quickly followed with another in the 30th as the game ended 2-0 at half time.
Great counter-attacking play from strikers Emeral Haran, Honey-mai Potter and Hollie-Mai Hooper created more opportunities in the second half.
At the other end impressive saves from ‘keeper Gemma in prevented Staplegrove from scoring again until 64th minute making it 3-0.
Staplegrove made it four in the 73rd minute, but Watchet were determined and found the back of the net thanks to Dan Camminga taking a free kick from outside the box after a challenge on Honey-mai Potter.
The game finished 4-1 to Staplegrove an improvement from weeks ago when Watchet came away with a loss of 7-1.
Watchet are home next week to Porlock, 2pm kick off when any support would be very welcome.
