MINEHEAD travelled to Bridgwater as holders of the Presidents Cup with a decent side against Staplegrove Reserves arguably group favourites.
In what proved another good example of competitive football in the Taunton Saturday League played in good spirits Grove and Minehead took a point in their first group match.
With Jack Harding returning in goal and a defence of Harvey Lovell, veteran Andy Gubb, Oli Jones and Charlie Disney Minehead kept thinks tight.

However with the creative midfield of twins Rob and Dan Vickers, Oli Reaney and Sam Jackson they were always going to set up chances and with the tireless running of Riley Pope and Scott Kivell there was always an outlet.
Harding was solid and led from the back and clear cut chances were hard come by from both sides.
Into the second half Grove took the lead.
A good bench saw the fresh legs of Harvey Henderson, Myles Campbell- Farmer and Tatenda Mashiri introduced but it was a moment of inspiration from Rob Vickers that saw the equaliser with a left foot effort from 32 yards which gave the keeper no chance and secured the point for the Blues.
Their next match against Nether Stowey on 2nd April.
Man of the match was Andy Gubb.
