FOR THE third time this season Watchet lost last Saturday to a side previously occupying bottom place in the table at the start of the day when they went down by 5 goals to 3 at Timsbury in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League.
After a disastrous first half defensive showing where they conceded four goals the Red & Blacks made a game of it going down the slope in the second half, cutting the deficit to 4-3 before they were caught out pushing forward and the points were sealed.
The visitors almost conceded an own goal early on, but keeper Vinnie Jones was able to fall on the ball on his own goalline before a through ball put Heatner through to go round him and find the empty net.
A second goal soon followed as a corner was headed in from inside the six-yard box and a rampant home side added a third with another header following a short corner on their right which found Watchet napping.
When a deflected cross fell conveniently for Midgley to ram in a fourth it looked like the visitors were in for a real hiding with their only response just ahead of the interval being a shot from Charley Clausen which was narrowly off-target.
It was a different story after the break as Watchet sought to restore some pride and they reduced the arrears with a scrambled goal following Josh Aspey's corner with Kieran Bailey being the last Red & Black to touch the ball before it crossed the line via a home defender.
On his return to action a Tom Sparks’ volley from Harvey Henderson's pass brought a smart stop from the Timsbury keeper and there was more hope when a 20-yard drive from Olly Prescott found the top corner of the net via brushing Clausen's back on the way.
Sparks nodded a good chance wide of the upright and Ryan Wilkinson's curled effort also went the wrong side of the same post. There were large gaps at the other end with Watchet committed to attacking in numbers and Jones made a fine double save in between a few other important stops to keep the visitors in with a shout.
It became a real possibility when Clausen's free kick from just outside the box was deflected in by a defender before the home side broke away to make it 5-3 and leapfrog the Red & Blacks near the foot of the table.
