STRUGGLING Watchet Town face two tough matches to end the first half of their season in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League.

They play at home to seventh-placed Clevedon United on Saturday, December 21 (2p.m.) and follow this with the return game against neighbours Staplegrove a week later.

Watchet lost 2-1 at home to Staplegrove in their latest game and Nick Sully, a member of the club’s management committee, said: “We definitely pushed them in the second half and on another day who knows what would have happened.

“We felt we gave them a good match and it was an improvement on recent performances.”

“Obviously, these next two games are going to be difficult. I don’t think we will be making many changes - we don’t have the players to do this.’

Watchet are waiting on whether Connor Jeromson, who has collected five bookings this season, will get an automatic one-match ban.

Watchet, promoted at the end of last season after finishing runners-up in Division One, are currently lying third from bottom in the Premier Division with only ten points from their 17 league matches.

“When you’re losing games things do not go your way,” added Sully.
