MINEHEAD & West Somerset Golf Club’s seniors’ section played a Stableford competition off the red tees on Monday at the end of which Bob Arthington was the winner with a very steady 37 points, two ahead of Trevor Stephens with 35 who was second on countback from Steve Gay.
A Seniors team competition was played on Wednesday with scoring based on the course index. The winners with 72 points were Martin Hole, Adrian Ryan and Tony Connolly. In second place on count back with 71 were Dave Oatridge, Rob Poirrier and Sandy Lyons ahead of Andy Giles, Chris Durman and Edward Frewin in third.
A more conventional pairs betterball competition took place on Friday where conditions were not conducive to good scoring. Several pairs contrived to prove otherwise, notably an excellent winning score of 42 points by Pat Jones and Tony Connolly. Three pairs shared 39 points with Edward Frewin and Dave Ball taking second on count back from Roger Green and Mark Watson (third) and Andrew Wilson and Mark Ruttley in fourth.
That was the final competition of the year and the Seniors all look forward to starting again in 2025.
