MINEHEAD and West Somerset Golf Club members played in the Bushen Cup competition on Sunday when the warm and benign condition resulted in some excellent scoring.

Taking full advantage of the conditions Glyn Harris, who plays off a handicap of 4, scored a superb 2 under par gross to end with a nett 66 to win the competition.

In second place four shots behind with a nett 70 was Neil Mossman, who plays off nine ahead of Jim Malarkey (13) who managed 71 to take third position on count back.

Sunday was the last of summer weather and it was back to the wind and constant rain as Minehead Seniors played a yellow ball competition on Monday.

A full entry divided into teams of three participated in a format that potentially could have created tension among the ranks and questionable as to whether you would continue to be on speaking terms with your team mates. If the person in charge of the yellow ball for that hole failed to score, then there was no score for that team. Brutal!

Nevertheless, it was smiles all round for the winning team of Tony Connolly, Malcolm Bruce and Steve Waterman who scored a magnificent 110 points to register as clear winners.
