THE Ladies section at Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club have had some trying conditions in which to play their competitions.
They sent a team to Burnham and Berrow to compete against Mendip Springs in the Rogers Cup. Despite their best efforts they were defeated 4½ to 2½.
At home last week the ‘Australian Spoons’ competition played which is foursomes. This means you play as a pair and take alternate shots. Unusually, you can play this competition several times within a set period providing it is with a different partner.
The winners to date are Sue Garwood and Sarah Hill (40 points). The April Medal was played last wek. This is where every shot is recorded to give a gross score over 18 holes. One’s handicap is then deducted to give a nett score. The lowest nett score is the winner. Victorious on this occasion was Ros Chidgey (handicap 30) whose nett score was 70; playing 3 under her handicap.
