JEREMY’S Jottings - the latest news from Exmoor based Jeremy Scott
With the majority of the horses enjoying their holidays, the team have been busy pressure washing and painting the yard and preparing it for when the horses return.
We did have a few runners; Came From Nowhere finished third on his hurdling debut where he raced a bit keenly early on but will have learnt from the experience. Kings Castle was our first winner of the new season under Bryan Carver at Warwick.
Joe Cotton finished fourth at Fontwell, running another good race and is now on his summer holidays. Wavering Down finished second at Warwick; unlucky to bump into to one, he will continue to run through the summer.
The Sainted Canary ran a brilliant race at Plumpton on his second start, finishing second, he has joined the herd for his holidays. Pheonix Risen made his chasing debut and finished well after jumping big and slow early on. He will have learnt from the experience and we look forward to running him again shortly. The veteran Champagne Court ran another good race, finishing third at Newton Abbot.
We sold Annie Magic at Doncaster Sales to a fantastic home in the Borders; we also returned home with a new addition, Western Article to run next season in novice hurdles for Mrs Rising.
Jeremy and Camilla are heading off to the Derby Sales in Ireland to have a look at the store horses while Georgina will probably head up to the July Sales in Newmarket with the aim of finding one from the Flat.
We would like to put together a syndicate of likeminded people to buy one from the Flat to run on the flat this summer before going hurdling in the Autumn. Please get in touch with Georgina if you like to get involved
We will be putting together a syndicate this summer for our Nathaniel 4 yo. He will be ready to run in the Autumn, he had a racecourse gallop this Spring at Warwick. Please get in touch with Georgina to find out some more!
