WEDMORE U15s 1 MINEHEAD U15s 8
MINEHEAD travelled to the Isle of Wedmore over last weekend where with some key players missing they were looking to secure another three points and continue their good run of form in Division Two fo the Under 15 section in the Taunton and District Youth Football League
Unlike their previous two matches Minehead were slow to get going and the home side took advantage and with just three minutes played took the lead. After a couple more attacks from the home side and some scrappy football Minehead finally woke up and began to play.
Some superb play in the midfield by Lucas Williams and George Hall put Charlie Mossman through on goal to bring the scores level. Minehead were now playing well and using the width and pace of Elliot Hooks and Danny Burrows. A flying run down the left flank saw Hook’s shoot and give Minehead the lead after 26 minutes.
The Blues took the pressure off for a short spell following this but the back line of captain Reiss Harrison, Harley Reeder, Edward How and Austin Nelder and Jake Alford between the sticks kept Wedmoreat bay. Minehead came alive again just before the break when a ball through to Ellis Nurton was passed to George Harris-Clark who then found Mossman who claimed his second of the game and sent the visitors in 3-1 up at the break.
From the restart the game was fairly even with the ball moving from end to end and defenders from both sides working hard to stop any threat on their keeper.
A foul on the edge of the box saw Minehead awarded a free kick which was whipped into the box by Mossman and was met by the head of Oulds who nodded it past the keeper making it 4-1.
Minehead then shuffled their players and Reeder stepped into his preferred position in the centre of the park and Jake Wyre returned to right back. Almost instantly an impact ball into the centre from Wyre was picked up by Williams who played the ball for Reeder to get on the end of who fired home to make it 5-1, shortly after which a cross from Hooks found the back of the net.
With Wedmore tiring Mossman bagged his hat-trick a minute later to make it 7-1. Minehead were constantly rotating players and ensuring minutes were given to all their players. Oulds was working tirelessly off the ball and he was rewarded with his second of the game a minute before the full time whistle to make the final score Wedmore 1-8. Minehead .Man Of The Match was Reiss Harrison
