MINEHEAD and Watchet Town both have crucial home matches in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League tomorrow (Sat).

Minehead, lying seventh in the table, play leaders Staplegrove who dropped vital points in a 1-1 draw at Westfield last weekend. Kick-off 3pm.

Victory is a must for Minehead if they want to stay in the mix in what is becoming a very competitive division.

Minehead have been able to field a more settled side recently although they are still without goalkeeper Kyran Wilkins who has a long-term knee problem.

Staplegrove have a five-point lead over second-placed Watchet but have played more games than any other side in the division.

Meanwhile, Watchet, who closed the gap on 'Grove after beating Castle Cary 4-1 away last weekend, will be without youngsters Riley Willis and Ed Townsend, who have a college match, for their home game against Ashcott, but Connor Jeromson is available after completing a one-match ban (2pm).

"We have a tough month ahead of us," said the Watchet club spokesman Nick Sully. "There is plenty of games to play."

Although down in 11th place, Ashcott beat Minehead 4-3 at home earlier this season.

In the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League, Minehead Reserves are away to Staplegrove Reserves tomorrow and play Stogursey in the quarter-finals of the West Somerset Rose Bowl at the Bridgwater College next Wednesday (8pm).

In the first division, Exmoor Rangers, who were due to play Nether Stowey Reserves in the first round of the Gardner Cup on Wednesday night, are away to Middlezoy Rovers Athletic tomorrow.

In Division Two, Porlock Reserves are home to their Watchet Town counterparts, Alcombe Rovers entertain North Petherton Reserves, and Dulverton Town are home to Bridgwater & Albion Reserves.
