Minehead AFC U10 Mariners is a new group of players who have been busy training and building up their number over the last month in preparation for competitive games.

On Saturday, ably assisted by a couple of players from the Mariners Under 9s, the team played their first two league games against their counterparts from Nether Stowey and Wembdon.

Both of the games were close and very keenly contested for the first half but then some experience told with the Nether Stowey and Wembdon teams then widening the gap to gain victories in each match.

The Minehead Mariners aim from their opening fixtures was to learn from their experience and enjoy the football, which they all certainly did. They certainly won the plaudits of their supporting coaches who described the Mariners Under 10s as “superstars, fighting for each other as a team and being organised.“

This newly formed team is looking for help on the coaching side of things ad also looking to recruit some more new players. Anyone who is interested should please get in touch with the club by emailing [email protected]or through the club facebook page.
