MINEHEAD Seconds gained their seventh victory of the season when they beat second placed Middlezoy by three runs at the end of a thrilling match in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League.

After being put into bat Minehead lost opener Vishnu Kombath for 17 with the total on 27 which brought Daniel Pawson to the wicket to join Gregg Howard.

The second wicket pair dominated proceedings and added 103 before Taylor Flitton bowled Howard for 77 which contained 11 fours.

Pawson was joined by Charlie Payne who hit 14 before Flitton removed him. Pawson stayed to see the total onto 175 before he was out for 52 which included four fours and two sixes.

Angus Marsh and James Davis then stayed together to see the hosts onto 253 for three by the end of their 40 overs, Marsh ending unbeaten on 39 and David not out 23.

When the visitors responded they got off to a flying start as openers Nathan Barnard, who made 87 before he was accounted for by Jack White and Samuel Stoker who made 56 before he was bowled by James Davis, added 154 together.

White (2-48) and Davis (2-43) both claimed another wicket as Middlezoy were limited to 250 for four in their overs.
