THE SUN shone brightly as Minehead Under 8s entertained Weston RFC in what for several was their first proper rugby match, with the scoreboard reflecting a well-earned victory for the home side.
With nerves and excitement in the air, the team were ready to showcase the skills they had been honing during training, and from the first whistle, Minehead wasted no time in establishing dominance.
The players burst onto the field with impressive energy, quickly finding their rhythm. A flurry of well-coordinated tries followed, with each player contributing to the scoreline and demonstrating the teamwork and tactics they had practiced. The Minehead team’s attacking prowess was on full display, leaving Weston struggling to keep up.
However, as the game progressed, Weston began to find their footing and their determination tested Minehead’s defence, but they stood tall, showcasing their resilience and commitment.
The team worked in unison, tackling and regrouping effectively, ensuring that Weston could not capitalise on their opportunities.
This match was one of the most physical touch rugby games witnessed at this age level, but Minehead’s young players did not shy away from the challenge.
The support from the sidelines was palpable, with parents and coaches alike cheering on the players as they fought for every inch.
