MINEHEAD & West Somerset Golf Club, which was founded in 1882 by Dr. Clark, is all set to host the 2025 Men's Somerset County Championship.

The club, which is proudly steeped in a rich heritage as the oldest links golf course in Somerset, is thrilled to announce that they have been selected to host the prestigious 2025 Men’s Somerset County Championship on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

This esteemed event, which will bring together the finest golfing talents from across the county, is set to take place on Minehead’s historic greens, renowned for their unique challenges and breathtaking coastal views.

The club’s general manager, Glenn Ross, said: “Our club has a long-standing tradition of excellence and a deep commitment to both our members and the broader golfing community. This selection is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, volunteers, and members who have continually ensured that our course remains in impeccable condition, offering a wonderful links golfing experience.

“We are immensely proud to have been entrusted with the responsibility of hosting such a significant event in the county's men’s sporting calendar.”

Glenn Ross added: “As we prepare for this and the other exciting events in our 2025 calendar, we extend our warmest invitation to golfers and the local community to join us in celebrating this event.”

Founded in 1882 the club has close ties with the Somerset Golf Union as the famous course architect and first president of the Somerset Golf Union, W. H Fowler, was a member and former club captain of Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club.

Next year will also see the Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club hosting the Bickerton Bowl presented by Joint Club Professional and three-time European Tour winner, John Bickerton, which will be included in the Somerset Golf Union Order of Merit, the Samara Salver for the first time in April and then three months later the prestigious South West Counties Senior Championship in July.
