The Past Captains’ MET Shield has been hosted by Minehead Golf Club. This triumvirate competition is played annually between Minehead, Enmore and Tiverton and based on Stableford scoring, the winning team comprises the best six aggregate scores from ten players. 

In a closely fought contest, Minehead came out winners with 199 points, Enmore were second with 192 points and Tiverton third on 188 points. 

The event was played in a keen but convivial spirit, with many friendships renewed throughout the day. 

Minehead Seniors played a bogie competition on Monday, where Steve Gay scored a superb +7, second on countback with +2 was Graham Troman while Neville Parsons claimed third.

The second seniors’ competition was a Pinehurst Greensomes which attracted a good turnout and ensured a close result with the honours going to Martin Hole and Bob Arthington with 43 points. Runners up with 42 points were Dave Oatridge and Nigel Trevelyan while Roger Green and Pete Heddercott third with 41 points.

The Seniors Stableford on Friday off the white tees was played in a brutal north wind despite which there were some excellent scores .

In first place on countback with 43 points was Clive Smallden, just ahead of longtime leader Graham Troman, while third position with 41 points was Steve Gay.
