MOREBATH CC climbed away from the bottom of the Division One table in the West Somerset Cricket League with a resounding 243 run victory over Churchinford on Saturday.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first the hosts posted a massive 410 for four from their 40 overs, the feature of which was 144 from Joe Weeks. During the course of his innings Weeks shared partnerships with Bowden who made and Carl Hooper who remained unbeaten on 74 at the conclusion of the innings.

For the visitors there was a wicket each for James Troy-Brown, Matt Francombe, Sandra Spall and Chris Roberts.

When Churchinford responded they lost Roberts early on after which Francombe who made 38 and Jack Perry with 28 batted steadily and saw up the half century onto the board.

Lower in the order Kristian Morgan made 28 and last batter Nick Carter remained unbeaten as the visiotrs ended on 167 for eight from their 40 overs.

Bowden with two for 19 off nine overs, three of which were maidens was the pick of the Morebath bowlers, while Irindu Gallange claimed two for 31 off six, two of which were maidens.
