MINEHEAD & West Somerset Golf Club Seniors started the week with a team competition with one score to count on the par 3s; 2 on the par 4s and all to count on the par 5s - a format that can test friendships!

Fortunately, all teams finished in good spirits especially the winning team of Chris Durman, Doug Hayhoe and Richard Burton with 80 points. In second place were John Perkins, Ashley Stockley and Nigel Trevelyan with 78 points and in third position with 74 points were Tony Connolly, Pete Heddercott and Tim Tennant.

Wednesday saw a full field playing for the Burgess Trophy, a medal format competition at the end of which the winner was Tony Connolly with a nett 68. Second place went to Willie Brown with 72, while Nigel Trevelyan took third place with a 73 on countback from Tim Tennant.

Conditions deteriorated rapidly by Friday for the pairs 4BBB when although scoring was hampered as the deluge set in, there were some excellent performances.

Top of the pile with a superb 43 points were Peter Young and Doug Hayhoe, one ahead of Graham Troman and Steve Gay with 42, while Tony Connolly and Tim Tennant were third with 41 points.
