ANOTHER flawless performance from Bell All Stars have all but secured the Premier League title in the Watchet & District Skittles League after Andy Bryant, with 115, led them to a 76-pin victory over nearest rivals Allsorts, whose Brian Bishop hit 97.
They now hold a ten-point lead with only 16 points to play for. In a rare outing for QC Guys, Stuart Norman turned in a match-winning display, knocking 111 in a six-pin defeat of Bottoms Up whose Chris Briggs scored 106, and a top of the alley 98 from Rebels’ James Parish led them to a six-pin away win over Castaways, for whom Mike Lane scored 94.
Phoenix Knights continue their fight to avoid the drop after Ryan Strong, with 111, helped them to a 24-pin home success over White Hart Stallions whose Matt Fairman scored 110. The match between Three Ferrets and Jack was cancelled, with the points going to Ferrets. Highest away score: Archie Walsh (QC Guys) 145.
Barn Owls lead Division A after gaining a narrow four-pin home success over Dungbeetles who had Tyler Kendall top of the alley with 92. Tom Andrews hit 90 for the hosts.
Williton Club’s brief spell of winning form came to a halt as they went down by 24 pins in the home defeat to Has Beens who had Mark Clausen top with 109. Alan Bland hit 102 for the Club.
Combwich Otters’ Rod Young scored 111 in his side’s 66-pin victory against Outsiders whose Richard Butt hit 103. Highest away score: Shane Yaw (Railway Steamers) 135.
In Division B, joint leaders Wyndham Warriors’ Chris Williams scored 93 but could not stop them slipping to a 16-pin away loss to Quantock Stags whose Roger Polsom scored 97 while Wyndham Pinheads moved into the leading spot after Richard Thrush topped the alley with 98 as they overcame Legion Specials by 60 pins with Dave Perkins hitting 90.
Ian Rottenbury knocked a useful 100 for Haddon Hillbillies in their 21-pin win over Rams whose Leigh Davis scored 98 while Dizzy’s Boys’ match against Badgers was called off due to Badgers being unable to raise a side - the points being awarded to the Boys. Highest away score: Lee Allen (Badgers) 140.
