SOMERSET Disabled Cricket Club are looking to recruit new players for the coming season.

In 2023 the SDCC enjoyed another successful season during which they played their first ever fixture on the Cooper Associates County Ground and beat Gloucestershire to make it a truly memorable day.

The SDCC League Team finished the ECB group stage top of the table, marking a satisfying first part of their 2023 campaign. This set up a repeat of 2022s regional final; Somerset Disabled CC against Gloucestershire for the 2023 title.

Again, Somerset produced an impressive bowling and fielding performance, taking seven catches without a drop and bowling Gloucestershire out for 62. Unfortunately, rain ultimately won the day, with Somerset at 23/0 in their chase. The rain arrived and the game had to be abandoned.

The SDCC Development team also made great strides on and off the pitch, growing in numbers and playing a number of competitive fixtures against opposition varying in ability and experience.

The success of the two sides has allowed for unprecedented expansion and the SDCC is now able to offer two levels of competitive disability cricket, a sign of an incredibly successful 2023 and the hard work of all involved in the club.

The club are now offering hardball and softball cricket for players aged 13 and over throughout the coming months and in the Summer.

Training is year-round with matches on a Sunday. Fr more information about if you qualify and how to join, please visit www.somersetcricketfoundation.org/disability
