OAKE Manor Golf Club’s Stableford Competition for The Kingfisher Trophy attracted an entry of 132 players.

Christian Hopwood won the trophy when scoring 44 points. Scratch golfer Mark Tydings won division 1 with 42 points and had a hole in one on the 6th hole and then went on to equal the amateur course record score of gross 64.

Paul Coleman came second in division 1 with 41 points and Gary Tillett was third with 40 points. Trophy winner Christian Hopwood won division 2 with 44 points, Andy Stevenson came second with 41 points while Richard Beesley was third with 39 points.

Ashley Evans scored 44 points to win division 3, Guy Backhouse was second with 42 points and Vic Burgos was third with 40 points.

Oake Manor’s Ladies Captain Liz How won the “Grannies Goblet” on Sunday in the Ladies Stableford Competition. Tamsin St George was the overall winner of the event scoring an excellent 44 points, while Liz How came second with 37 points and Jane Clist was third, also with 37 points.

Peter Matthews won the “John Matthews Putter” in the Seniors Monday Stableford Competition. Peter won division 1 with 41 points, Colin Shepherd came second with 39 points while Phil Gadd was third with 38 points.

Ian Hockey won division 2 with 39 points, Robert Davies came second also with 39 points and John Stinchcombe was third with 38 points.

Liz How held her Ladies Captain Charity Day at Oake Manor on Tuesday, raising more than 00 for Citizens Advice Somerset. It was a fun competition with double scores on some holes - the professional Alfie would drive your ball on the second hole for a charity fee and other holes had to be played with irons only, etc.

The overall winner was Shane Bordier scoring 50 points, winning on count back from Judy Phripp also 50 points while Jill Loader came third with 46 points. The best front 9 score was Jill Loader while the best back 9 score was Kathy Salway, Sandra Lawrence had a hole in one on the 16th hole and treated all the players to a glass of Pimms.

The previous week Janet Howe had a hole in one on the 14th hole while playing in the Ladies 3 Ball Yellow Peril Team Competition - all scores to count. Each team has a yellow ball which is rotated between the players and scores double points. The winning team were Karen Grabham, Amanda Mather and Linda Sully scoring 138 points, second were Jenny Swann, Bev King and Janet Howe with 137 points while Mary Beakes, Gill Nichols and Emma Fitzgerald were third with 127 points.
