WATCHET Waves are the early leaders of Division Two in the Under 12 section of the Taunton & District Youth Football League after they won 7-0 away to Kingsdown Knights.

They have six points from their opening two matches and share top spot with Wellington Town who won 4-2 at home to Bridgwater Wolves.

Watchet's second league game started a little slowly with the visitors a bit sleepy and Kingsdown applying some early pressure with a couple of corners which Watchet's defence dealt with, but as the game went on they started to take control and get their foot on the ball.

They played some nice football with the first goal coming just after with Jack cutting in from the left on to his right foot and getting a shot away with the keeper doing his best to keep it out. But Freddy was in good postion to poke the loose ball over the line, with the pair deciding later on Jack's shot had crossed the line.

Freddy soon got his goal just after with some calm play from the back from Jacob and Sam moving the ball to the midfield with Merek releasing Jack, this time down the right to fire a cross in for Freddy to finish calmly with his left foot.

Two soon became three with Freddy grabbing his second goal of the game, this time a half volley on his right foot from just outside the area, set up by the excellent Harley from the right.

It became four before half time, this time Jack grabbing his second goal of the game again set up by Harley before finishing calmly and beating the keeper at his near post.

The second half carried on in the same vein with Watchet moving the ball and playing some lovely football, with all the players showing confidence, the midfield controlling the game for Watchet with Merek starting attacks from his own half and Oakley pressing with George and Theo to continously win the ball back early in the opposition half.

The fifth goal was created by Oakley for Freddy to side foot into the bottom left for his third and Watchet's first hattrick of the season. It was quickly followed by Watchet's second hattrick when Jack was alert and powerfully finished to make it 6-0.

Watchet had one final moment still with Stanley winning the ball at the back and playing wide to Harley who played George clean through on goal and he showed great composure to slot the ball past the keeper to make it 7-0 to Watchet.

This was Watchet's second win of the season and another clean sheet for the impressive Isaac in goal and defence of Jacob, Stanley and Sam.

Man of the match went to sam.
