WEST Somerset College Under 15s hosted Chilton Trinity from Bridgwater, in a 16 over friendly match last Tuesday.
Electing to bat West Somerset started well with S.Cobb hitting a six off the first ball of the game after which the hosts continued with quick runs in the first few overs from both openers, before captain A,Vickery was run out and Cobb retired on 25.
N.James and L.Howe made double figure scores before they were both bowled by C.Barden who ended with two for 12.
The impetus kept going with late runs from H.Swann with 23 not out and an unbeaten 21 from H.Lobb which saw West Somerset end on 129 for four from their overs.
When the visitors batted M.Hughes and E.Upfold started with some tight bowling before the introduction of R.Harrison and C.Penny led to wickets falling, through good catching, in particular from wicket-keeper N.James. Excellent fielding by L.Howe and A.Vickery also led to consecutive run outs.
Chilton then fell well behind the required rate, and despite Barden’s 25 retired, wickets from L.Howe and L.Clavey saw the visitors end on 82 for six, giving West Somerset College comprehensive winners by 47 runs.
