UNDER the expert tutelage of Phil Arbourne, Minehead & West Somerset Golf Club has been investing many hours in attracting and successfully developing their junior section and on Friday, the Junior Club Championship was held - a strokeplay played over two rounds.

Fortunately, the weather was reasonable and congratulations go to Oliver Groves who managed to successfully defend the title he won last year with a gross 171 points, Ed Coad with 188 second.

The nett competition was won by Lennon Howe with 139 points, while Josh Dyer playing his first ever competition ended with 140, which included a front nine of 61 on the second round.

If anyone of junior age would be interested in playing golf or would like to learn to play, contact the Club and speak to Phil Arbourne who would be delighted to welcome you.

Because of pre-arranged friendly matches, Minehead Seniors played only one competition which took place on Monday with a medal off the white tees. There were several scores worthy of note and in first place with a magnificent nett 66 was ‘Tiny‘ Welford. Three players scored a 67  but after countback, Malcolm Bruce took second, Bob Arthington  was third and Richard Austwick fourth.
