SIR — In response to last week’s letter regarding the sand on Minehead seafront, what also is a problem is the blocked drains along the sea wall.
These are full of sand and after heavy rain a walk along the front is made difficult by huge puddles of water so you have to walk in the car park, unless you fancy a paddle.
It’s also a pity that the shelters are looking a bit sad; they could do with some wood or Perspex put in to help with wind and rain protection when you sit in them, and some of the seats could do with repairing.
The flower beds which were grassed over are now being used as dog toilets and can look really scruffy when the grass is left to grow long, along with the islands by Butlins and Morrisons, -it’s a shame that neither of the two companies sponsor the planting of these.
The seafront is used by a very large portion of visitors and locals for walking along to relax and take in the sea air, such a shame they can only comfortably walk along parts of it.
It is a lovely place to walk, but with a little more input of money and sponsorship from some of the bigger stores it could be back to the wonderful ‘picture postcard’ front you see on some of the cards for sale in shops.
Litter bins around the town and car parks - well that’s a different subject.
