THE A358 has been closed in both directions after a lorry crashed off the road and caught fire between Taunon and Minehead.

Avon and Somerset Police has said no other vehicles are involved in the collision, which happened at Halsway Hill, near Crowcombe.

Police said in a statement: “The A358 has been closed at Halsway Hill near Crowcombe following a single vehicle collision this morning (January 15).

“We were called at 7.52am to reports a lorry had left the road. The vehicle subsequently caught fire.

“Emergency services are in attendance and the road is closed between the junction with Culverhayes Lane and the junction for Crowcombe.

“No one is believed to have been injured.”
