COMMUNITIES large and small across West Somerset are preparing for their annual acts of Remembrance.
In Minehead, the Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club holds a drumhead service in Wellington Square at 10.30 am on Remembrance Sunday (November 10).
A service will take place at 12 noon at Alcombe war memorial and a service at 4 pm around the war memorial on North Hill, Minehead.
On Armistice Day (November 11), a two-minute silence will be respected at Minehead’s North Hill war memorial.
Services on Sunday include 10.30 am in St Peter’s Church, Williton, 10.45 am in All Saints’ Church, Wootton Courtenay, 8 am in Dulverton’s All Saints’ Church, 10.50 am in the villages of Brompton Regis, Brushford, and Upton, 3 pm in Skilgate, and 9.30 am in St Dubricius Church, Porlock, followed at 11 am by an act of Remembrance at the village war memorial.
Watchet’s parade and service in the Methodist Church on Sunday starts at 2.30 pm.
In Stogursey, a service will be held in St Andrew’s Church at 10 am, followed by laying of wreaths and a silence at the war memorial at 10.50 am.
The Military Wives Choir is performing in a Royal British Legion concert in Williton Pavilion at 7 pm on Saturday, and the Rev Mark Phillips will lead a ‘Williton Remembers’ at 10.50 am around the war memorial in the recreation ground on Monday.
Armistice Day services also include a gathering at Watchet’s war memorial starting at 10.45 am.
