A LUXURY holiday or £1,000 in cash has been bolted on to the Somerset West Lottery as a monthly ‘super draw’ prize to help support local good causes.

The winner can take a getaway to the destination of their choice, or take the money, which comes from external lottery management company Gatherwell.

Anybody who signs up to buy one or more of the lottery tickets between Christmas Eve and January 27 will be in with the chance to win the prize.

Among the local good causes which benefit from the lottery are Wiveliscombe Town Hall Trust, Carhampton Youth Club, Minehead Male Voice Choir, St Peter’s First School, Williton, East Quantoxhead Village Hall roof fund, and the Moorland Mousie Trust.

There have been more than 100 cash prizes and free tickets since the last super draw in November.

All tickets bought up to January 27 will automatically be entered into the bonus prize draw as well as being in with a chance to win up to £25,000 in the weekly lottery run by Somerset Council.

The Somerset West Lottery, which started in 2017, offers registered good causes an opportunity to raise income for their organisation by selling tickets to members of the public.

It gives 50p from every £1 ticket sold to local registered good causes with 10p from every ticket sale going into a community grant fund for which local good causes can apply.

The Somerset Council-run lottery is on target to have raised more than £31,000 for good causes by the end of the year.

Anybody who knows of a good cause which wants to raise funds or would like to buy a ticket should contact the lottery by calling 0300 30 20 666 or emailing [email protected] or by visiting its website here.
