AT LEAST £2,000 was raised for Williton Memorial Ground funds at the village’s annual fete on September 2, described by the organisers as “a brilliant day with lots going on.”
In perfect holiday weather, around 1,000 local residents and visitors enjoyed a wide range of entertainments, including 35 stalls and flower, produce and craft shows - which attracted bumper entries.
Other popular favourites included displays by Exmoor Honey, Slimming World and the always-popular dog show, plus tombola and a parade by majorettes.
Families were well catered for, with attractions which included spin-the-wheel, welly-wanging children’s races, hook-the-duck, and a novelty hobby-horse gymkhana.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: “It was a really successful and happy day out which had a traditional village fete atmosphere and raised money for a very good cause.
“We would like to thank everyone who contributed to a really successful day - stallholders, participants and visitors and our wonderful volunteers including Doniford army cadets. And we certainly couldn’t have asked more from the weather!”
