BILLED as the UK’s ‘most exciting playground’, Butlin’s SKYPARK is set to open in Minehead this summer.

Families will be able to enjoy a £2.5 million investment which has been designed for inclusivity, interactivity, and illumination.

Six zones based on positive play emotions will include brand-new features such as the UK’s longest swingline at 138 feet, a first-ever wheelchair-friendly seesaw, and two light-up intertwining slides.

The playpark has been designed for inclusivity to allow children of all abilities to play together and there will be two play spaces from which to to choose.

There is a dedicated play space for ‘tots,’ while SKYPARK has a focus on sensory features, including a place of calm in the unique ‘Sound Domo’ playing 18 relaxing sounds.

The playground lights up at night for an after-dark experience.

SKYPARK will be free to use and included in the price for guests on family breaks and day visitors.

Also opening in Butlin’s Minehead later this year alongside SKYPARK will be an accommodation refurbishment project, which will be completed by April.

The Minehead resort will see a total of 400 units of accommodation completely renovated later this year.

The project will offer holidaymakers a relaxing yet practical space with all the essentials needed for both a family break or an adult-only ‘Big Weekender’ visit.

As well as the Minehead accommodation project, the resort’s newest venue, Studio 36, will become permanent.

Originally installed during Covid as a solution to social distancing, Studio 36 is now home to all headline acts and the venue will be made permanent during 2024.

It will mean the venue can also be used for ‘Big Weekenders’ where acts can perform for more than 3,000 guests.

The resort will also see investment in and upgrades to other entertainment venues, with more ‘exciting things’ promised for later in the year.

Minehead resort director Matt Rake said: “This year is going to be an incredible year for Butlin’s Minehead.

“These amazing projects and the substantial investment we are putting into the resort is going to significantly enhance our guests’ experience.

“As the ‘home of entertainment’, nowhere else does fun and entertainment like Butlin’s, so the announcement of our incredible, inclusive playground Butlin’s SKYPARK coming to Minehead is amazing news for holidaymakers joining us later in the year.

“SKYPARK has been a real success since opening in Skegness, so the addition of this incredible playground at Minehead will take already jam-packed holidays to a new level.

“This year really is going to be our biggest and best year yet.”

Family holidays at Butlin’s in 2024 start from £59 and all breaks include accommodation, live shows and headline names, access to Splash Waterworld pools, unlimited fairground rides, soft play, and playgrounds including SKYPARK.

‘Big Weekenders’, which are exclusively for adults, start from £69 and new headliners in 2024 include Max George, from The Wanted, and Sabrina Washington, from Mis-Teeq, on Back To The 2000s.

Claire Richards will be headlining selected 90s Reloaded breaks and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt will present Don’t Cha Disco on selected Replay breaks.

The new live acts will join the likes of Peter Andre, Wet Wet Wet, Soul II Soul, Tony Hadley, Boyzlife, Scouting For Girls, Blue, So Solid Crew, and others performing on different ‘Big Weekenders’ in 2024.
