VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help with the annual influx of visitors to Snowdrop Valley, on Exmoor, which will begin next week.

The organising committee in Wheddon Cross is looking for people to help with tasks such as directing car parking and the sale of merchandise and other items.

The event, which is held courtesy of landowners the Badgworthy Land Company, runs from January 28 to February 26.

The main car parking area will be the Cutcombe Cattle Market, except on the market days of February 1, 8, and 15, although the Rest and Be Thankful public house car park will still be open.

Only permit holders will be able to use the road into Snowdrop Valley.

The valley is carpeted with snowdrops in bloom each year during February and has been attracting thousands of visitors for decades.

Visitors can use a number of walking routes, with the most popular being the shorter one-mile walks into the valley and then looping back uphill for another mile. Maps of the walks are available from the parking kiosk.

There will also be a Land Rover private hire taxi service by a local safari company which can be booked in advance.

Public toilets are located in the village car park next to the Rest and Be Thankful.

Anybody who would like to help should contact Jim Winzer on 01643 862592 or email him at [email protected].
