MORE than 100 people attended this year’s Carhampton’s Apple Day, which was made possible by a team of 30-plus volunteers organising it.
Visitors included both local residents and holidaymakers unable resist the lure of traditional apples and fresh-pressed juice in the village’s community orchard and home-made refreshments in the village hall.

Some were making their first visit to the orchard and were impressed by the wide range of apples, with 17 of the orchard’s 35 varieties available for sale, and the site’s beauty.
Visitors were also able to take along their own apples pre-chopped to be juiced by the orchard team.
The village hall offered refreshments, with home-made soup and pudding lunches, cakes, and orchard chutneys on sale, while there was also an exhibition of orchard archives, newspaper reports, and photographs from over the years.
Proceeds from the event will be put toward maintenance of the orchard, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, including a project to restore its wall.
Carhampton orchard apples will continue to be on sale in Toucan Wholefoods and Stuart Lowen Quality Butcher and Farm Shop, in Minehead.
