A QUANTOCKS Hills community will shortly begin the process of drawing up a climate adaptation plan.

Spaxton residents are being invited to a collaborative workshop in the village hall on Tuesday, January 21.

Ideas generated by it will inform an ‘Act to Adapt’ plan being co-ordinated by Somerset Wildlife Trust (SWT) and funded by Somerset Rivers Authority.

It sees individuals, community groups, and local authorities working together to find collaborative actions for adapting to climate impacts.

An SWT spokesperson said: “The climate will continue to shift for a long time to come, and we need to find a way to live with these changes.

“Taking adaptation actions can help limit or avoid the negative effects of climate change, and even maximise any positive opportunities it may present.”
