WEST Somerset schoolgirl Harriet Bruford has continued her dog show success with her miniature wire haired dachshund Rocky by achieving a placing at the country’s most prestigious event, Crufts.

Twelve-year-old Harriet, who attends Danesfield School, Williton, was awarded a ‘very highly commended’ certificate in the junior dog breed class.

Rocky, a 17-month-old whose pedigree name is Dogrose Bee of Sound Mind, was among 18,000 dogs taking part in this year’s Crufts.

Harriet’s first show with Rocky was in Chippenham in April of last year, and she qualified for Crufts at the Houndshow in July, also winning ‘best special beginner in breed’.

Last August, Rocky was again ‘best special beginner in breed’ and was second in ‘puppy’ at the Paignton Championship Show, Devon.

At the Mid-Somerset Show, Rocky won ‘best puppy in breed, ‘best of breed’ and third place in the ‘puppy' group.

Harriet also goes to Ringcraft, in Oake Village Hall, with Wiveliscombe and District Canine Society, and has been a steward at its open show.
