ENTRIES have opened for this year’s Dulverton Trail Fun Run and Canicross, which is now in its fourth year.
The cross country event for runners with or without their dogs, which have to be kept on leads, offers two routes of just over three miles and six miles through the Exmoor countryside.
The start and finish lines are on Exmoor Lawns, beside the River Barle, with refreshments available, and there will be marshals and water stops along the way to keep competitors refreshed and make sure they do not become lost.
The race takes in the ‘Dulverton Demon’ – a steep, wooded hill leading from Marsh Bridge toward Court Down, which is described as ‘beautiful but challenging’.
All runners will be awarded a tasteful, eco-friendly wooden medal exclusively handcrafted by Exmoor Engraving.
Competitors are being warned that parts of the course are steep, stony, and potentially muddy, and so they should ensure they wear appropriate trail running footwear.
Online entries will close at mid-day on Saturday, September 14, and there will only be a limited number of entries available on the day.
Bookings can be made here and the entry fees have been held at last year’s rates of £15 for adults aged 18 years and older, and £6 for young people aged between 16 and 18 years.
The event is being supported and sponsored by Dulverton music shop Oggies, which also carries an array of restored, upcycled musical instruments repurposed into other objects such as lamps, furniture, and more.
