DOZENS of runners and walkers took part in the annual Santa fun run on the sea front in Minehead on Sunday (December 1).

The 5k family run, hosted by the Rotary Club of Minehead and supported by Minehead Parkrun, raised more than £520 for the charity Guide Dogs, which it has supported for the past three years.

This year’s event started at the Beach Hotel and saw the format changed with the addition of a 1k run/walk for those who did not want to tackle the longer route.

More than 50 Santas of all ages braved the ‘crispy’ Sunday morning weather to complete the run and walk.

Guide Dogs spokeswoman Fiona Shaw said: “A massive thank you to everybody who came out this morning and took part.”

Rotary community team leader John Baker said the charity fun event ‘has become a firm favourite for runners of all standards in the build up to Christmas’.
