AN Exmoor village’s Christmas carol service on Sunday (December 22) will see a collection this year for three children’s charities.

The service in All Saints’ Church, Wootton Courtenay, will begin at 6pm.

It will include readings and poems as well as carol singing, and the village’s bellringers will be ringing before the service.

Churchwarden Amanda Elliott said: “It does not get much more traditional rural England than bells and carols, followed by drinks and nibbles.”

The charities which will benefit from the collection are the Exmoor Youth Project, the Children’s Hospice South West, and the Children’s Society.

Ms Elliott said: “We will miss you if you are not there.”

The church, which dates to the 1200s, is also fund-raising for roof repairs.
