THE ever popular Somerset Opera is set to bring Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera H.M.S. Pinafore to the Minehead Regal Theatre on Friday, March 28, at 7.30pm.

H.M.S. Pinafore was Gilbert and Sullivan’s first international sensation. The story takes place aboard a Royal Navy ship where the captain’s daughter Josephine is in love with a lower-class sailor Ralph Rackstraw, although her father intends her to marry the First Lord of the Admiralty Sir Joseph Porter.

Josephine abides by her father's wishes at first but before long she and Ralph declare their love for each other and plan to elope.

Tickets costing £10 may be booked in advance online and at the Regal box office (01643 706430) between 9.30am and 12.00pm Monday to Saturday.
