THE history of Wivey Pool is being brought to light in an upcoming talk hosted by the Wiveliscombe Civic and Historical Society.

A talk by Wivey Pool trustees, Making a Splash, will explore the town’s beloved outdoor swimming pool in celebration of its forthcoming 100th anniversary.

The panel of speakers will explain the trials and tribulations faced by the pool, its staff, and users in its long history, and its path to becoming a treasured community resource.

Wivey Pool opened on August 4, 1927, and is now one of the oldest functioning pools in Somerset.

‘Making a Splash’ will be held on Thursday, January 16 at 7.30pm in St Andrew’s Church, Wiveliscombe. Doors open at 7pm.

Tickets are free for members or £5 on the door.
