THE Royal Opera’s ‘The Tales of Hoffman’ will be screened at the Minehead Regal in a live broadcast from the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden on Wednesday, January 15 at 6.45pm.

Juan Diego Flórez leads a fantastic cast in this new production of Offenbach's dream-like opera which explores the lives of four women and their curious love stories.

Through the haze of the years, a poet remembers the women he loved, but when it comes to matters of the heart nothing is as it seems, particularly when the devil himself is involved.

Journeying back to his school days, Hoffmann relives his childhood romance with Olympia, a model student in every sense. Doomed love follows him into adulthood, where the dancer Antonia is taken from him too soon. Meanwhile, the sensual courtesan Giulietta has her own secret agenda. As memory and fantasy becomes increasingly blurred, will Hoffmann find the enigmatic Stella before it is too late?

The opera is sung in French with English subtitles, and the running time is 245 minutes, including two intervals.

Tickets cost £15.50, £14 for Film Society members/Regal Theatre Friends, £13 for Students/ES40s, or £10 for under 14s, and can be bought online or at the Regal box office.
