LAND and property owners on Exmoor have been advised by police with May bank holidays approaching to block access to help prevent illegal raves taking place.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary said warehouse-type buildings and even large driveways, anywhere such an event could be staged at short notice, should be secured.
The advice follows two unauthorised music events on Exmoor over Easter, one of which was broken up by police thanks to an early alert.
A spokesperson said if residents noticed any ‘strange activity’ at all they should immediately notify police
They said: “Unusual increases in traffic in rural areas or near abandoned buildings could be a sign, as could social media activity or local posters.
“If you see it, again please let us know.
“We will be carrying out additional patrols over this period.”
Non-emergencies should be reported by calling 101 or online at https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report, and 999 called for emergencies.
