TRIBUTES have been paid to a man who died in a fatal collision on the A39 between Fiddington and Cannington on Monday.

Barry Hammond died when a purple Peugeot 107 car he was driving was in collision with a lorry carrying livestock at about 6.35 am.

Mr Hammond, aged 69, from Nether Stowey, received medical treatment but died at the scene.

His family are being supported by a specially-trained police officer.

Mr Hammond’s daughter Kimberley said: “My dad was the most amazing and kindest man I have ever met.

“He was loved by all who knew him and we are all devastated by his passing.”

Mr Hammond’s wife Julie said in tribute to her husband: “I am going to miss you terribly.

“I have loved you ever since we were married and that will never change.

“I wish you were here with me to take away the pain.

“You are in heaven now, all my love and kisses.

You will never be forgotten and will always be in my heart.”

Police investigating Mr Hammond’s death are asking for any witnesses or motorists who were using the A39 at the time of the collision and might have relevant dashcam footage to call 101 and give the reference number 5223189412.
