A STOGURSEY man who went to the aid of a distressed person he found slumped over roadside fence has been chosen for a charity award.
Unemployment advisor Nigel Smith has been named Prospects 2016 Community Champion by Prospects Group colleagues for the actions he took earlier in the year.
As a result of his quick-thinking, a missing man was reunited with his family.
The man, Roger McCoubry, and Nigel met again recently for the first time since Roger was found near Street in March.
Roger had gone missing after walking out of his family home in Midsomer Norton without his phone, wallet or identification.
Roger kept walking until Nigel found him near Millfield School three days later. He had apparently been sleeping rough.
Nigel said that Roger is now on the road to recovery: “Seeing Roger fit and well, and back with his family is wonderful. I’m just glad I could help out,” he said.
