COUNCILLORS have welcomed plans to create new jobs for the area on land at the Wellington Business Park.

Members of Wellington Town Council’s planning committee met on Monday (March 4) where they were told about the proposals for seven commercial buildings to be built along with the change of use and conversion of two agricultural buildings for commercial use at the site at Chelston House Farm in Taunton Road.

Cllr John Thorne said: “I think we welcome this – it’s bringing proper jobs into the town and I would support this.”

Councillors agreed to support the application although a final decision will be made by Somerset Council.

A spokesman for the applicants, KS Coles Ltd, said: “The development will provide new commercial units in a sustainable and accessible location to the benefit of the local economy and the provision of new employment opportunities.
