A MAN who appeared in court for burglary of a pharmacy in West Somerset earlier this year has died before he could be sentenced by magistrates.
Homeless Nicholas Miall had admitted breaking into Alcombe Pharmacy, Minehead, and burglary with intent to steal.
The offences happened on Saturday, March 15, and Miall was arrested at the premises by police who responded to an alarm call.
Miall, aged 55, who had a prosthetic leg, had appeared in Taunton Magistrates Court on two charges and the case was remanded for sentencing.
However, magistrates were told last week the offences had been withdrawn because ‘the defendant has died’.
No details of the cause of death were given and the Somerset Coroner’s Office has yet to open any inquest proceedings.
